Sioux Nickname

Let me be clear, I want(ed) UND to keep the Sioux nickname/logo. But how awesome is it going to be when YOU have to try to come up with something more clever than "sue"? Trust me, it has been more than 50 years and the best thing you have come up with is "sue"...so let's not kid ourselves. You retards are probably having a tougher time than The Ralph trying to figure out what to do. The downside is that no longer will college hockey have the best nickname/mascot instead it will allow UND to beat the Gophers in football(ala NDSU). It will also allow for some pure comedy trying to replace the clever "sue". I look forward to the brilliant insults.

Just trying to make things clear and secondly that we have known for quite some time that the Sioux nickname would be retired.

  1. Really? You don't think that this shit show couldn't come up with something clever in the first 15 minutes after they decide on a new name? Seriously, Doc did extrapolated stats to degrade Punto. Now if that isn't a waste of time, I don't know what is. Just think if we put our mind(s) to something that matters.

  2. I'm not even close to drunk enough to respond to this.

  3. a cleverness challenge coming from a group of people that came up with "golden chokers" is rather empty. Personally, I could care less about the nickname, I just think it's funny that it's happening to UND. One more thing for the conspiracy theorists to cry about.

  4. Golden Chokers is not only funny, but it is factual.

Unless they close down the school, it is pretty much a non-issue, to me at least. But those fucking "laser show" fans I'm sure are all crying.

  5. But really, other than trying to wear out the Holy Cross joke, what have you brought lately? And I bet if Doc had internet now, he wouldn't be sober enough to respond to this.

  6. Golden Chokers. This is a) funny b) factual c) current.

I don't say anything about Holy Cross and haven't for a couple of years. I think it is a toss up between the Laser Show fans and Gopher fans on who won't let it die. I get disgusted when I see Laser Show fans wearing the HC jersey. For those that attend the Final 5, I think they would agree with me.

I think there is a simple misunderstanding. I hate a good portion of Sioux fans too.

  8. The problem is that, because of the extreme popularity of the laser show, it doesn't matter what you change the logo to. Carrington natives can't afford to buy all new jerseys, new flags for their screen porches, new decals for their 4x4s, or new photoshopped images of Eddie the Eagle posing with them at their tumbleweed farm in his goalie equipment. They'll cling to the old logo like Doc to a nickname he just branded on the side of his arm.

Point is, they can change the nickname, but it won't change history, and "Sue" comments will always be the predominant insult. Well, Canada references, and "Sue" comments. Maybe some Joe Finley related material for the next couple of years, but that will fade long before "Sue's a girls name" ever does.

One good thing will come of this: Native Americans will no longer be honored at the beginning of the games.
